CONCEPT: “Song of the Little Road“
Based on “Pather Panchali (Song of the Little Road)” Satyajit Ray’s debut film, and the first film of poetic, lyrical work of “Apu Trilogy”. The remaining two films of the trilogy, “Aparajito (The Unvanquished)” and “Apur Sansar (The World of Apu)“, follow Apu as the child, the man and finally the father. Pather Panchali has a universal humanist appeal. Though the film deals with the grim struggle for survival by a poor family, from north-east India Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. What is projected in stead is the respect of human dignity.
This photo shoot is a tribute to both Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay‘s original novel Pather Panchali and Satyajit Ray‘s first film of Apu Trilogy. The face of the world is changing very fast but in some villages of rural India the life is still calm. They are not hyped by the media; it doesn’t mean that they don’t have heroes, myths, folks and creative ideas of their own. They grow up with nature. And their unknown stories like Apu “Song of the Little Road” moan silently.
