Rash Yatra Utsav is one of the many festivals in the busy Bengali calendar, held in the month of November – December every year. Basirhat Lalita Mandir is an establishment in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Here 1000’s of devotees come every year to see the Rash Yatra Utsav. This year it was a grand celebration too.
Rash Yatra is in devotion to Sri Krishna and Radha Rani. This is first started by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in Nabadwip, dedicated to the divine love of Sri Krishna and Radha. Lord Chaitanya’s “sankirtana movement” was revolutionary which offered everyone spiritual enfranchisement.
Cult music instruments like mridangam, symbols and hand piano have been used to perform the maha-mantra of Sri Krishna and “loko sangeet”, “kirtana” also been performed by the devotees.
